There are many factors
to consider when choosing a gas furnace. Here's a few
points to consider when making a decision:
Size:
Furnace size refers to its heating capacity, not to
its physical size. This is measured in BTUs (British
thermal unit) per hour. A small unit may lack the
ability to heat to your desire while an overly large
unit will cost more to purchase and run. The experts
at Haining Plumbing & Heating can help you determine
the best size heating system for your needs.
Efficiency:
Efficiency is measured by AFUE ("Annual Fuel
Utilization Efficiency") rating. The requirement is a
minimum of 78%. The higher the AFUE the higher the
efficiency. Higher efficiency equals lower heating
bills.
Cost:
Cost is determined by how efficient the unit is.
Higher efficiency costs a little more initially, but
operating costs are much lower which saves you money
in the long run, compared to lower efficiency units.
Contractor:
No matter the quality, poor installation can
drastically reduce the efficiency and reliability of
a furnace and cause problems later on. At
Haining Plumbing & Heating, we take pride in our
work. You can take comfort in knowing that all of our
installers are highly trained with years of experience.

Evaporative cooling will provide substantial
energy savings over refrigerated air units. The
simplicity of the design allows low maintenance
requirements. The evaporative cooler will provide
fresh, filtered air. The outside air that has been
cooled will blow the stale inside air out. With the
substantial savings on energy and the air constantly
changing, the evaporative cooler is ideally suited
for area cooling or spot cooling in both residential
and commercial applications, including homes, churches,
schools, restaurants and many other applications.
Not only are the operating costs considerably
lower than standard air conditioning units, the
various health benefits of evaporative cooling make
them an extremely smart purchase. Breezair®
Coolers help clean the air as they cool by filtering
dust, pollen & contaminants. And, if you
install the Breezair® optional accessories,
maintenance is virtually eliminated. As temperatures
rise, please stop by our showroom to feel one in
action!

The decision as to
when to winterize is an important one. Winterizing
should be done before any water system is exposed to
prolonged freezing temperatures.
Winterizing not only helps to keep pipes from
freezing, it also conserves water. When a
frozen pipe bursts, the ensuing water damage can be
extensive and costly -- a nightmare for the
unsuspecting homeowner. We recommend scheduling
your winterization needs in early fall.
Please refer to our "Maintenance Services"
section for specific maintenance schedules.
Some winter weather tips:
(1)
Have one of our heating professionals clean
and tune your furnace every other year. Furnace
filters should be cleaned monthly for cleaner air and
energy efficiency.
(2)
Turning your thermostat down in the evenings by 10
degrees also will save on energy and your pocketbook!

There are many differences between faucets which are
contractor-quality and those sold in discount stores. The
professional-grade faucets we sell offer warranties and
replacement parts, and consist of components designed to
withstand the stresses of everyday use. Unfortunately, most
faucets which are sold by discount stores in "blister packs" are
considered throw-away products.
